The Music Release Checklist: 8 Weeks from Finished Track to Release Day

Great tracks still flop when they're rushed out. Give every release around eight weeks of runway and follow a simple plan.
8–6 weeks before
Get the foundations ready.
- Final master approved
- Artwork finished (3000 × 3000 px)
- Metadata checked: title, mix name, credits, genre
- Track delivered to your distributor or label
5–3 weeks before
Start the outreach.
- Pitch to Spotify editorial via Spotify for Artists
- Send promos to DJs who suit the track
- Create a pre-save link
- Film short clips for social media
2 weeks to release day
Build the buzz and go live.
- Post teasers and announce the date
- Share DJ support videos as they come in
- On release day: post everywhere, update links in bio
- Thank everyone who shares it
