How to Grow on Spotify as an Independent House Artist
· 6 min read · Addy Records
Spotify can feel like a lottery, but growth usually comes from steady habits rather than one lucky playlist placement.
Claim your Spotify for Artists profile
Add a good photo, a bio and your social links. It's also where you pitch unreleased music to Spotify's editorial team.
Pitch early
Submit your track for editorial consideration well before release day — several weeks is ideal. Describe the genre, mood and instruments accurately; it helps match your music to the right playlists.
Release regularly
Releasing a single every six to eight weeks keeps your profile active and gives algorithmic playlists like Release Radar a reason to feature you.
Drive your own traffic
Algorithms respond to listeners who save, repeat and add your track to their own playlists. Send your fans directly to Spotify with pre-save links, Stories and DJ support videos.
